Die
Deep

2025, Bears in the Park, Vienna, Textile, Painting, Drawing, Performance

The expression of death comes with the expression of immediacy, including the immediacy of wanting or having to live, and to go on. Die Deep is part of an ongoing collaboration—‘this one wish you have will come true’—between the real artist Malashree Suvedi and the imagined artist Rekha Bhatta. Rekha, I invented you, in the process invent me too. This work is an unfinished spectacle to death. The spectacle, as it is currently, was created at the Bears in the Park residency and was opened by the artist with a song. The abstracted and figurative monsters of anger, of joy, of sadness are our friends…even feelings usually deemed negative hold great virtue.

Thoughts of wanting to kill yourself and wanting to kill others, more so as an expression of deep distaste, distrust and disappointment rather than as a concrete ideation is part of the collaborative process with Rekha. Many videos, texts, conversations were exchanged between us.
